SpaceX's Starship SN9 prototype fires rocket engines twice ahead of test launch

SpaceX’s newest Starship might now be cleared for takeoff.

The Starship SN9 vehicle carried out its fifth static hearth check Friday morning (Jan. 22), briefly lighting its three Raptor at 9:59 a.m. EST (1459 GMT) whereas remaining firmly on the bottom at SpaceX’s South Texas facility, close to the Gulf Coast village of Boca Chica.
