Galaxies, the cosmic cities of the universe, explained by astrophysicist

Paul M. Sutter is an astrophysicist at SUNY Stony Brook and the Flatiron Institute, host of Ask a Spaceman and Space Radio, and creator of How to Die in Space.

Galaxies are glittering cities, huge metropolises filled with stars, mud, gasoline, black holes, magnetic fields, cosmic rays, darkish matter and extra. Separated by thousands and thousands of light-years of primarily nothing, galaxies are extremely remoted, each an island.
